Power Play Series Part 2

When man made the first primitive tools that helped him to shape and control his surroundings he discovered an important secret - the value of energy. It would give him power to develop an entire world.

The sun is the most powerful source of energy, it creates life and is vital to our existence. But in our everyday life the energy we most depend upon comes from deep within the earth: coal, gas, and oil are fossil fuels; carbon based sediments that have been trapped underground for millions of years and are our main source of energy.

Energy makes things work. It moves stationary objects such as turbines that create electricity. Without energy there would be no world as we know it today.

This program continues to show how we use and waste energy, discusses major environmental concerns and the politics that are at work for nations' own interests. We now encounter China as a new major consumer of energy and who is also a major polluter.
